Simple System for Getting Meaningful Testimonials

It is so much better for people to hear from a third party how great you are instead of you trying to toot your own horn!

To get meaningful testimonials from your clients, stop asking for testimonials and start asking for feedback! Here’s exactly what you need to do, step by step.

 

Step 1. Ask clients for feedback.

  • After closing, verbally ask your client and any other parties to the transaction if they’d be willing to give you feedback on working with you.
  • Get a photo of the client at closing or during the sales process.
  • Draft a template email to use for all client follow-ups. Include the nine essential questions. (see the nine essential questions below).
  • Send your client the email requesting feedback.

 

Step 2. Review your client’s feedback.

  • Take your client’s feedback to heart. Decide what changes you want to incorporate into your business based on your client’s feedback.
  • Compile a meaningful testimonial from your client, using his or her exact words.

 

Step 3. Email your client for approval.

  • Email your client. Thank them for the feedback and let them know about any changes you are making based on their input.
  • Share your complied testimonial and ask for approval or edits, as they see fit.
  • Request approval to use their name, city and any other pertinent details.
  • Ask for their photo if you didn’t get one previously.

 

Step 4. Post it!

  • Once you have everything you need, post that testimonial on your website!
  • Include the testimonial on your social media sites, in marketing materials, and in your pre-listing package.

 

Nine Essential Questions

  1. What hesitations did you have about working with us?
  2. What fears or concerns did you have about the process of moving, selling, or buying generally?
  3. What specific results or outcome did you achieve through our services?
  4. What did you like best about working with us?
  5. How else have you benefited from our services?
  6. Would you recommend us and our services to others? If so, why and to whom?
  7. Is there anything you would have liked to see done differently? If so, what?
  8. What's the most important thing people should know about working with us?
  9. If there anything else you'd like to add?
