Mistake #5: Operating off of the false assumption that connecting at a deep level with others is no longer possible. That relationships are out the window and it’s all about technology, marketing, and prospecting.

Well, there is no doubt that technology is a key ingredient in today’s business. Clearly you have to get your name out there. And of course if you aren’t prospecting, you aren’t generating leads.

The key to success, however, is CONNECTING with the right people using each of those mediums.

John Maxwell in his book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect defines connecting as “The ability to identify with people and relate to them in a way that increases your influence with them.”

Below are the 5 relationship areas where effective connecting is critical for you in this market.

Self - Know your own values and life vision. Insure your inner dialog is realistically optimistic.
Lead sources - Public, sphere of influence, database, FB friends, networking groups, etc.
Leads - People who need your service and have their hand up.
Clients - People who have hired you to serve them.
Vendors & Colleagues - Those with whom you work along side in your business.

If you are just randomly communicating without building a CONNECTION, you are probably feeling really frustrated in your efforts.
