Goal Setting with a SoulFire Spark

Published on January 9, 2013

SoulFire Goal Setting with NikkiandChris.comWe wanted to give you a concise overview of what we spoke about on our free teleconference call on Friday, January 4th called Goal Setting with a SoulFire Spark.” This call was the first in a series of calls committed to helping you live a SoulFire life!

Let's face it!

This time of the year, everyone is all rah-rah, but it doesn't seem to take long for that same enthusiasm to dampen a bit. Is it possible to retain that spark by adding some SoulFire? Yes, we say, yes it is!

That's because SoulFire is about so much more than the mundane setting of goals. It's about fueling your real estate career by igniting your passion for life.

Perhaps you haven't established written goals already or you're on the other side of the fence, where the goals are in writing, but you feel like they lack passion and excitement. Maybe you've written your goals because you know you're supposed to, but you're not really all that positive about achieving them.

Here's the good news: you can add some SoulFire today!

So what are these things called SoulFire goals?

Well, first and foremost they:

  • Compel inspired action
  • Are in alignment with your values
  • Create Joy in Your Heart

Start by asking these questions:

1) What Do I Value? Drill down to what that is. Some may answer money. Others declare health and family to be at the top of their value list. But let's keep drilling down to specifics. Is that “family” value really underline the ability for a Mom or Dad to have enough time to attend the school and sporting events of their children? Clarify the bottom line and you may be surprised at what it is that you really seek.

2) How Do I Want to Feel? This is a technique that I've just begun to realize, practice, and coach and it's a brilliant thought shared by author Danielle Laporte. Consider what it is that you are trying to FEEL when you set a goal, rather than the goal itself. The truth is that no matter what goal we seek, we're actually desiring a feeling. For example, if the goal is to make more money, then what you're probably actually seeking is a FEELING of security or comfort or on down the line. Try the exercise, and you'll be hard pressed to not come up with a FEELING that you seek. Then develop your goals.

3) Where and When Are You at Your Best? Danielle Laporte defines this as being in your “zone of genius,” and that's a perfect explanation for it. What are you best at? What do you love doing. above all else? What do you shine at and and others marvel at? When you are truly in your “zone of genius,” you're bubbling with excitement and enjoying a task that you'd probably do for free!

You also want to spend considerable time asking yourself these questions:

What Are the Three Things That Would Bring You the Most Joy?

What Would Need to Happen to Accomplish These Three Things?

Consider these five points as you define your SoulFire goals:

Own Your Goal

Is it yours? It belongs to - nor can it be - inspired or dictated by anyone else.

Goals Change

Even during the year, you are allowed to change your goals. Family situations, health and so many other issues can impact goals. It's also possible to refocus your goals.

Be in Alignment with Your Values

Of course you want to and must set a financial goal. But it can't be the end-all, be-all. Chances are, if that financial goal is not in alignment with your value, and you're not paying attention to other issues, you will FAIL to achieve the financial target, too.

Life is a Journey:

Life is progressive and doesn't happen overnight. Remember that each step on the journey is leading you to exactly the right place!

Pick 3

Trying to focus on more than 3 primary goals at one time is too overwhelming. Choose the 3 most critical goals at any given time and give them your energy and attention.

It’s Your Turn!

Spend some time in quiet contemplation and answer the questions above BEFORE you formulate your action plan.

Yes, an action plan is the next component to achieving your SoulFire Dreams and Goals… more on that to come!
